From a young age, I’ve always had a sense of motivation and creative passion driving me forward. Children demonstrate an innate, spontaneous capacity for artistic expression; before they ever learn to read or write, they make animated, meaningful marks with a crayon or marker. My role as an educator is to protect and maintain that inherent creative confidence. Through art-making students gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their immediate worlds. Connecting personal meaning to creation builds genuine self-confidence and student agency, while opening doorways to diverse cultures that foster empathy and respect for human differences.

Art class prepares students for success in the 21st century by enhancing imagination, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving. Creating, observing, and analyzing visual art helps students form opinions, make predictions, and use evidence to explain their thinking.

I believe that learning is most profound when it is student-centered, project-based, and rooted in the joy of discovery. When we leverage the arts as a tool for action, inquiry, and cross-disciplinary exploration, we don't just teach curriculum - we nurture the whole child.
